Fresh Energy to the Frontline
Share
The latest wave of releases on OBSCUUR shows exactly why we do this. Five artists, five angles, and one shared mission: pushing underground club music forward without compromise. From hard trance and Latin percussion to speed garage and classic rave energy.
Here’s what’s been spinning lately.
Jim Jonathan – New Era EP
Haarlem-based talent Jim Jonathan enters a new phase with New Era, a tight two-tracker that captures the heart of modern rave.
Set Me Free is a vocal-led hard house slammer built for euphoric peak moments and messy dance floors. All About The House Music goes straight to the point, rolling basslines, chopped samples, and nods to the rawer side of 90s club culture.
Already supported by names like KI/KI, Malugi, Narciss, and Marlon Hoffstadt, Jim’s momentum is no accident. His sound is fast, fun, and focused, a perfect fit for OBSCUUR.
WATTO – Latin Tool
From Melbourne to the OBSCUUR catalog, WATTO lands with Latin Tool, a high-impact, percussion-heavy techno bomb. Blending Latin rhythms with sharp, modern grooves, this track hits hard and moves fast.
Known for his bouncy, club-focused productions and recent signing to Warner Music Germany, WATTO’s sound has picked up support from Funk Tribu, MIJA, Mischluft and others. Latin Tool is his latest weapon. made for outdoor stages, dark rooms, and everything in between.
Mirage & BAVR – Soul of the Dancefloor EP
What started with a connection at Ampere turned into a full-on collab. Ghent’s Mirage and Antwerp’s BAVR teamed up for Soul of the Dancefloor, a four-track ride through piano house, UKG, and speed garage, all served with a fresh 2024 twist.
Built on feel-good energy and club-tested instincts, this release blends raw percussion with warm melodies, giving DJs tools for both the rave and the afterglow. It's a record made for strobe lights, open-air moments, and those blurry 3AM highs.
mrgnstrn – Club Drama
Dresden-based DJ and producer mrgnstrn steps in with a powerful OBSCUUR debut, a two-track release that captures both sides of his hard trance DNA. Drawing from late ‘90s/early 2000s rave culture, his sound blends heavy emotion with real club pressure.
Everybody is the heavy-hitter, fast, sweaty, and built to destroy dance floors. Don’t Need Your Love flips the script: melodic, emotional, and tailor-made for sunrise sets and open-air highs.
Both tracks show the range and intent behind mrgnstrn’s project, rave nostalgia done right, updated for today’s harder scenes.
This new batch of releases reflects what OBSCUUR is all about: diverse sounds, forward motion, and artists who mean business. If you haven’t yet, go dig in. These tracks weren’t made to sit in playlists, they’re built to move people.
More heat is on the way. Stay tuned.
