Jordan George doesn't make tracks for the timeline. He makes them for the floor.
The Birmingham producer has spent the last few years as one of the engines behind that city's hard house resurgence — a steady run of club-first records and a reputation built in the booth rather than the algorithm. His OBSCUUR debut is where two of his loves finally meet out in the open: the raw drive of modern hard house and the euphoria of classic trance.
"I've always been a massive fan of the classic trance sound," he says. "My inspiration was to create something that includes some old-school trance elements with my usual sound — while still keeping it feeling fresh and new."
That's exactly what lands. This release pulls the 90s/00s trance palette — the rolling melodies, the hands-in-the-air lift — into a harder, faster present. Driving and hypnotic where it needs to be, uplifting when it counts, and built end to end for peak-time.
Focus track Do Ya Know This One is the clearest shot of it: a hard house engine under a trance top line, the kind of record that turns a room at 2am and still sounds good on the walk home. It's old-school feeling, new-school built — which is the whole point.
