Saxon on OBSCUUR Records: Korg Addiction and Safe Machine
Saxon is a hard house and speed garage producer from the Sunshine Coast (Kabi Kabi Country), now based in Newcastle (Mulubinba). He has two releases on OBSCUUR Records so far: the single Korg Addiction in July 2025 and the Safe Machine EP in February 2026. Together they run to six tracks.
Who is Saxon?
Saxon makes hard house and speed garage. He grew up on the Sunshine Coast, on Kabi Kabi Country, and now works from Newcastle, on Mulubinba land. His sound draws on the raw energy of 90s house, and he aims it at today’s clubs.
That mix of nostalgia and current floor energy runs through his work. Driving rhythms, rave-influenced synths and a euphoric, high-impact feel are the common thread.
What has Saxon released on OBSCUUR Records?
Two releases, seven months apart.
Korg Addiction came out on 29 July 2025. It carries two tracks, “Got To Believe” and “Don’t Give Up”, filed under Electro and Techno/House. Both were pitched as peak-time cuts, built for the dancefloor.
Safe Machine followed on 27 February 2026. It is an EP of four tracks: “Make Me Feel”, “Close Your Eyes”, “Dred Gunman” and “Tiki Taka”. It is filed under Dance.
The step from a two-track single to a four-track EP gives the catalogue a clear shape: a first statement, then a wider body of work.
What is the Korg connection?
The title Korg Addiction points at a favourite instrument. Saxon’s earlier collaboration with jyc., “Keep The Fire Burning”, is an energetic hard house track with speed garage influences, punchy drums, driving rhythms and classic Korg M1 piano melodies.
The M1 piano is a staple of 90s house and rave. Anyone who has stood in front of a rig at a hard house night knows the sound. It suits a producer who takes his cues from that decade and still plays to a modern crowd.
Where should you start with Saxon?
Start with Korg Addiction if you want the two peak-time tracks in one sitting. Move to Safe Machine for the longer run of four. DJs building a set can pull individual cuts from either release. Everything sits on the Saxon artist page.
Two releases in, Saxon has set out a sound that is rooted in 90s house and made for the floor now.
